Flower remedies are infused with the energy from wild flowers and trees. They can help to bring positive change to our lives in a gentle and natural yet effective way. They were developed in the 1930s by Dr Bach who believed that emotional wellbeing was fundamental to overall health. Dr Bach discovered 38 Bach flower remedies in total – each relating to a different emotional state. They help to bring the body’s emotions back into balance and are taken as drops under the tongue or in water.

Flower remedies are a natural way to address any emotional imbalance within you. They can help with a range of emotions such as anxiety, confidence, sleep disturbances, anger, energy, grief, feeling depressed and more.

Flower remedies are safe for all ages and animals as well as pregnant women. They don’t have any side-effects, are not addictive and don’t interact with any existing medications you’re taking. You cannot overdose on them. Note, they do contain a small amount of alcohol and are therefore not suitable if you have an alcohol intolerance or if you’re taking Antabuse. See FAQ below.

Mindful Remedies are created according to the instructions and preparations outlined by Dr Bach in his original process. We use organic brandy to preserve the ingredients and keep the remedies fresh. Your remedy can be made without alcohol, using apple cider vinegar to preserve the remedy if you prefer or simply with water. This may be acceptable for people who would prefer not to take alcohol for religious or ethical reasons. The original stock drops do contain alcohol however this would be a negligible amount in the bottle when mixed with water and vinegar. If you’d like your remedy to be made without alcohol or would like to discuss further, please do get in touch.

You can select up to 7 flower essences for each Mindful Remedies bottle. Only choose the essences that you feel speak to you right now. More is not better - incorrect or too many flower essences tend to cloud the issue and therefore the ones you do need don’t work as well.

Take a minimum of 4 drops under the tongue a minimum of 4 times a day, especially first thing in the morning and last thing at night. When first taking the remedy or in acute situations, where you are feeling your emotions intensely, you may wish to take more often. You can’t overdose on flower remedies. You can also add them to a drink – which may be more suitable for babies and children. If taking them directly in your mouth, be careful not to let the dropper touch your mouth as bacteria may get in.

There is no single answer as each person is different. Bach flower remedies work quickly in more acute circumstances (within a few days) whereas more long-standing imbalances may take longer to re-balance. They work quicker in children as their habits are less ingrained. A bottle will last around 3 weeks. By this time, you should have noticed some improvement and a shift in energy - if the right remedies were selected. However long-standing issues may take a few bottles to truly shift the negative state. After your first bottle, you should review your emotions again. Think about what shifts have occurred and what feelings may need addressing now – either new emotions uncovered, a greater sense of self-awareness or emotions you don’t feel have quite shifted yet. You can change your selected flower essences as much as you like, depending how you’re feeling and you can stop taking your drops whenever you feel like - there will be no withdrawal effects.

Mindful Remedies are free from all major sources of allergies and are also vegan. They do however contain alcohol so if you are allergic to alcohol, we would recommend avoiding. See FAQ above.

The remedies do not treat physical illness directly but help to restore harmony and balance to the personality and mind which allows the body’s natural defences to work more effectively. The remedies treat the person as a whole – supporting the mental outlook or personality trait of the person, rather than a disease, however this pursuit of emotional balance should help to support overall welling. There has been much research on the impact of stress on the body and the interaction between the mind, the nervous system and immune system.

No, Bach flower remedies can be described as complementary medicine. They can be used alongside traditional medicine as part of a holistic approach, looking to address emotional imbalances when looking at the person as a whole. Flower remedies can be taken alongside other medicines and won’t interact with them. However, discuss with your GP if you have any questions.

It will do no harm, only it may slow down the healing effects of any others you were taking that you did need.
