The Best Natural Flower Remedies For Flight Anxiety

Are you someone who gets anxious when you have to fly? Many people struggle with flight anxiety and look for ways to support them with this issue.

How can I calm my anxiety about flying?

There are many ways to help make the experience a little bit easier, including anti-anxiety medication, CBT and natural remedies for flight anxiety. In this blog post, we'll discuss some of the best natural remedies for fighting flight anxiety, explicitly focusing on Bach flower remedies.

What causes flight anxiety?

For some people, the thought of flying can be daunting. And for some, this fear can be so severe that it impacts their daily lives on the run up to a flight.

While the causes of flight anxiety can vary from person to person, there are a few common factors that may contribute to this fear. For instance, many people who suffer from flight anxiety have a fear of loss of control. This fear may be due to a previous bad experience on a flight or simply because they feel like they have no control over the situation when they're in the air.

Other common causes of flight anxiety include a fear of heights, claustrophobia, and a general fear of flying. Whatever the reason, flight anxiety can be a real challenge to overcome.

What are the best natural remedies for flight anxiety?

Several natural remedies help calm your nerves and relieve your nerves about flying. Anxiety is a common experience for many, and while prescription medications are available, some prefer to take a more natural approach. Remedies like herbs, essential oils, and dietary changes can all play a role in easing anxiety.

Herbs such as chamomile, passionflower, and lavender are well-known for promoting relaxation. At the same time, Bach flower remedies, like Rescue Remedy (which we’ll focus on in this post), are another popular option.

Essential oils, such as lavender and bergamot, can also help to reduce stress and encourage a sense of calm. By trying different natural remedies for flight anxiety, you can find what works best for you.

What are Bach flower remedies?

Bach flower remedies are natural remedies which use high vibration flowers to bring the body back into balance. They’re made by infusing water with these flowers by boiling or leaving them in the sun. There are 38 different flower remedies, plus Rescue Remedy, a five-flower combination.

The remedies were made by Dr Bach, a physician and homoeopath, in the 1930s and they’ve been used widely ever since. They’re a natural, gentle and safe way of managing emotional issues, including anxiety, depression, stress, motivation and more.

Each flower remedy relates to a different emotional state and rebalances that negative emotion, bringing you back into equilibrium. Dr Bach created Rescue Remedy as a combination to have on hand in case of emergencies or stressful situations when there’s no time to create a personalised blend.

Many people have heard of and used Rescue Remedy but don’t know about the full flower remedy system. Rescue Remedy is an excellent combination to have on hand, but if more long-term issues need support, it’s a good idea to look at the complete list of 38 Bach flower remedies.

As well as Rescue Remedy, you may want to consider other flower remedies that can help with more long-term support for anxiety. Here’s an overview of a few different Bach flower remedies for anxiety that may help you manage your fear of flying – both in the event and before and hopefully to ease your fear of flying completely.

Mimulus:

Mimulus is the flower remedy for anxieties with a known cause, such as fear of flying! But this could also be anxieties around health, money or phobias about something. This is a great natural anxiety medication for flying.

White Chestnut:

White Chestnut is for those with an overactive mind, which plays thoughts repeatedly. These thoughts may be about specific worries or just thoughts of the day. White Chestnut is also an ideal Bach flower remedy for insomnia.

Rock Rose:

Rock Rose should be taken if your anxiety is at a heightened state of terror, such as having a panic attack. These feelings may coincide when taking a flight and help bring your escalating panic down a notch.

Aspen:

Aspen is for anxieties with no known reason or cause, more a general sense of foreboding or uneasiness on a daily basis. This isn’t explicitly related to a fear of flying, but sometimes people with anxiety often find Aspen helpful as this may co-occur.

Red Chestnut:

Red Chestnut is for fear of a loved one’s safety. This would be suitable from a flight anxiety perspective if part of that anxiety were around the safety of your family.

Rescue Remedy

Rescue Remedy, as mentioned above, is a five-flower formula which contains Star of Bethlehem (for trauma/shock), Impatiens (for patience), Rock Rose (for terror), Cherry Plum (for control) and Clematis (to ground yourself in the present.) This blend is designed to help in moments of stress or emergency when things get a bit much.

You can combine Rescue Remedy with other Bach flower remedies into a treatment bottle when working with the flower remedies. A qualified Bach flower practitioner should do this for you as the amounts of each will differ when combined.

In the case of flight anxiety, you may wish to combine Rescue Remedy (for the stressful event itself) with some of the other remedies mentioned above, which can help more specifically with anxiety and help to neutralise this fear on the run up to the flight and long term.

If any of the above remedies resonate, you can create a personalised remedy blend with up to seven remedies in a bottle with Mindful Remedies. We don’t have Rescue Remedy included as an option on the website, but if you’d like this included as one of your seven, just drop us an email with your order number and we can add that in for you. Just make sure you only select a maximum of six others.

All personalised remedies are created by hand by a qualified Bach flower practitioner and can be posted anywhere in the world.
